Vulva gazing is the practice of lovingly observing and connecting with your vulva. Not to diagnose. Not to assess for health concerns. Not to apply a treatment or try to resolve an infection.

Just to be and gaze with full presence, wonder, and awe.

When was the last time that you set space and lovingly gazed upon your vulva?

Vulva Gazing is an online learning circle focused on building connecting and relationship to your vulva. This circle is intended to offer essential anatomical education, while also awakening awe and love for our vulvas through presence, touch, and intentional gazing.

Nature's Vulva

So many of us carry stories of shame and disgust towards our vulvas. We live in a time where labiaplasty is normalized and even recommended, despite the fact that most women who undergo this procedure have normal and healthy anatomy.

The false projection that vulvas are ugly is a direct effect of our disconnection from nature and the spell of separation from Earth’s creations. If we awaken from this spell, we will see vulvas all around us.

Deep in the roots of human herstory is the tale of the holy vulva that brings life and deserves reverential worshipping. The vulva was once fully acknowledged as the gates between the spiritual and earthly realms. Artwork and adornments of vulvas were placed in caves, buildings, and in homes as a form of guardianship and protection.

“In parietal art, the image of the pubic triangle of the Great Mother symbolizes the source of life and simultaneously, the tomb to which the dead return that they may be born again. The vulva, as the visible entrance to the womb, is conceptualized as the entrance to Her mysteries and a symbol of her world-creating energy.” - Starr Goode The Icon of the Vulva, A Basis of Civilization

“When Inanna leaned against the apple tree, her vulva was wondrous to behold. Rejoicing at her wondrous vulva, the young woman applauded herself.” -Descent of Innana

How do we bridge the gap between these ancient times of vulva worshipping to our present day culture in the globalized west? How do we change the narrative of disgust and shame that has been cast upon our vulvas?

We start with our own bodies and we gaze upon our wondrous vulvas. We rejoice and applaud.

Your guide

My name is Madeline and I have been walking on the womb path and studying female reproductive autonomy for the past decade. I am deeply passionate about womb health in relation to whole body health and the health of our world. I believe that women hold innate wisdom and medicine that is held in the physiology of our sacred feminine bodies. My work is dedicated to supporting women to connect in and listen to their bodies as a way to awaken that magic that is within us all.

I have personally experienced profound healing from gazing upon my vulva and coming into relationship with this sacred part of my body. In sitting with the uniqueness of the flower of my womb garden, I let go of the narratives of shame, disgust, and even desires to change my body. The stories of others projections of how my vulva “should” look melted away as I lovingly embraced my vulva as beautiful and glorious!
